As part of Media Studies AS, you will be studying the ways in which representation functions within TV Drama. The study of TV Drama is half of the G322 exam (the other half concerns Institutions and Audiences). In the exam you are asked to analyse a sequence from a TV Drama. You will not know what the drama is before the exam.

Exam Re-sit

If you are resitting your AS Media Studies exam in January you should practice making notes on a 5 minute TV drama clip. You should watch the clip 4 times, you are allowed to take note on the first viewing in the exam.

You should structure your notes around the four concepts of camera-work, editing, mise-en-scene, sound.
The question will also ask you to discuss a representational area. Topics that could come up in the exam are; Gender, Age, Sexuality, Class and Status, Physical Ability, Race and Ethnicity, Regionality.

You could get a clip from any TV drama. It doesn't matter if you have never watched that show before.
